Cherry Bakewell Donuts
The perfect snack size for a treat with a cuppa! Baked donuts, topped with cherry icing and flaked almonds.
Here’s what you’ll need;
For the donuts;
- 200g GF plain flour
- 70g sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- pinch of salt
- 70g butter
- 1 egg
For the glaze/topping;
- 6tbsp black cherry jam
- 6tbsp icing sugar
- 30g flaked almonds
Donut baking tin.
Preheat the oven.
In a large bowl, add all of the dry ingredients and whisk together. In another bowl, add the wet ingredients together. Then combine all ingredients into one bowl and combine.
Grease the donut baking tin with a little butter and then add the donut mixture to the tin. Bake in the oven for 8 minutes.
Move the donuts to a wire rack to cool. In the meantime, combine the glaze ingredients into a bowl and gradually add a teaspoon of water at a time until the right consistency is gained.
Once cooled, dip each donut into the glaze bowl to cover the top, sprinkle with a flaked almonds.
