French Toast with Sautéed Apple

French Toast with Sautéed Apple

The perfect breakfast when it’s cold outside! I used homemade bread for this, but shop bought will work just the same.

Here’s what you’ll need;

To sautéed the apples;

  • 1 apple
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

For the toast;

  • 2 slices GF bread, toasted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 50ml milk
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Get started with the apple first. De-core the apple and cut into segments. Add the oil, syrup and cinnamon to a frying pan and heat on low. Add the apples to the pan and stir occasionally.

In the meantime, whisk together the egg, milk, syrup and cinnamon in a bowl. Add a spray of oil to another frying pan and heat. Dip each slice of toast into the bowl, on both sides. Add to the pan and heat both sides for 2-3 minutes until golden.

Serve warm, topped with the sautéed apple.

Enjoy!
